Places to see In early August, a number of fireworks displays, both large and small, are held around Lake Biwa. Below are the major ones. The poetic charm of summer in the "Land of the Lake" Some 10,000 fireworks are set off at the Lake Biwako Fireworks Spectacular. The world's longest horizontal fireworks fountain and the reflections of the "Star Mines" on the water compete with each other over the lake. At the North Lake Biwa Fireworks Display, another venue, some 10,000 large and small fireworks, including artistic ones, are set off.
