NAGAHAMA
Castle HIstorical Museum Museum of History The original castle was built by Hideyoshi Toyotomi. This replica houses exhibits showing the history and culture of the northern Lake Biwa area. The keep commands a bird's-eye view of Lake Biwa and the streets of Nagahama. Closed: Mondays, days following national holidays, last Tuesday of the month, year-end/New Year's holidays (open every day in February, April and August) |

Shrine Erected by the townspeople of Nagahama to the illustrious memory of Hideyoshi Toyotomi. Dedicated to the god of prosperous trade, the shrine is visited by many during the Ebisu Festival in early January, and the Hoko Festival, with its procession of samurai. |
